Guy’s Pig & Anchor BBQ Smokehouse has quickly become a favorite stop for lunch for Carnival cruise passengers.

Open for lunch starting at noon on seadays, Guy’s BBQ serves up smoked meats, sides and assorted flavors of BBQ sauce. Eating at Guy’s Pig & Anchor is included in your cruise fare.

We first tried Guy’s BBQ a few years ago on the Carnival Magic and it was delicious. I have found, however, that the quality and flavors vary between ships. The first magical Mac Daddy Mac & Cheese I had on the Magic has yet to be replicated on any other ship, although the Vista mac & cheese came close this week.

Being from the Kansas City area, I’ve tried all types of BBQ and Guy’s doesn’t really come close to some of the best I’ve had. That said, their comfort food side dishes and tender meats do hit the spot after a morning in the sun.

The roasted chicken and the brisket can be a little dry, but the pulled pork usually has a nice amount of fat in it to remain juicy. The sides can be hit or miss, but I always try the mac and the potato salad. The Scratch Made Cole Slaw can be great when it’s crisp and cold, but not appealing when it’s warm. The vinegar flavor really seems to overwhelm the dish when it gets to be room temperature.

Four Award-Winning Types of BBQ Sauces

Guy’s offers four types of BBQ sauce and you can locate them just outside the line where you get your food. The flavors are Award-Winning Bourbon Brown Sugar, Spicy Sriracha BBQ, Kansas City and Carolina #6.

As with all food reviews, go try it out and see what you think. I’ve talked to lots of people who just LOVE Guy’s BBQ and then a bunch who can’t stand it. It’s included in your cruise fare, so you should definitely try it out and let me know what you think.
